SOMA2020-03-27T16:29:37+00:00

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

Soma is a group of around 40 people aged from 18-80+ who enjoy singing together. We normally meet on Thursday evenings at 8:30-9:30pm downstairs in the Clayton Hall. Soma was formed in September 2018, to encourage people who enjoy singing, but can’t read music. The name Soma, is a Greek word meaning ‘body’. This sums up our ethos which is about team work, and each part valuing and needing each other. We learn to sing in parts by listening to MP3 tracks, but music is provided for those who want it. We do not audition anyone who wants to join!

There are huge benefits to being a part of a group like Soma. Firstly we draw members from across our church family, but also beyond our walls, which develops a sense of community. It also helps to build relationships and of course singing is great for personal well being.

We normally spend an hour together on Thursdays, sometimes splitting the men and women to learn their parts and then coming together at the end. There is usually a lot of fun and laughter involved.

Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to come and give it a go. You won’t have to sing by yourself, you don’t need to be able to read music and we guarantee lots of fun!

Meets Thursday evenings at 8:30pm
